Are.na New Tab is a Chrome extension that replaces your browser's new tab page with content from
your Are.na feed. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your data.
What we collect
Nothing on our servers. The extension stores your Are.na OAuth access token in
chrome.storage.local on your device. The token is sent only to:
Are.na's API (api.are.na) to fetch your feed and channels.
A small token-exchange service we operate on Cloudflare Workers, used once during sign-in to convert your authorization code into an access token. This service does not log the token or any personal information.
What we don't do
No analytics or telemetry.
No tracking pixels or third-party scripts.
No advertising.
No data sold or shared with third parties.
No data sent to any service besides Are.na (and the token-exchange worker described above).
Permissions
The extension requests the following Chrome permissions, used for the purposes listed:
storage: to save your access token and your view preferences locally.
identity: to launch the Are.na OAuth login flow in a popup window.
host permissions for Are.na: to fetch your feed and the images it contains.
Signing out
You can sign out at any time from the extension's settings page, which clears the stored token.
Uninstalling the extension also removes all locally stored data.
